2012 Events
1) Flag Day - date to be announced (morning). Volunteers with collecting tins
raise funds for Colchester Cat Rescue in Colchester town centre at various sites in the shopping centre. We always need enough
volunteers to shake a collecting tin, so let us know if you can help. Meeting to get a collecting
tin from 10am onwards, at the Colchester Cat Rescue Charity Shop at 17 Eld Lane
(opposite the Baptist Church, car parking below in Vineyard St car park). The 2011 collection day was dry and
our kind helpers made a magnificent effort to try to raise money, not easy in a time of major economic recession -
thank you to all those involved for raising nearly £750. 2) Open Evening - a Friday in July
2012 (date to be announced.) This free annual event from 7pm to 9pm has replaced our Summer Garden Party,
so that supporters who wish to visit the Sanctuary do not have to pay out for tickets, in the current economic recession.
A free glass of wine or fruit juice will be offered to all visitors.
3) Colchester Carnival -
Saturday 30th June 2012 (from about 5pm.) We were very pleased to take part in the 2009 Colchester Carnival
in September 2009, the first carnival procession in the town after a 10 year absence. Our supporters were dressed up as cats
and kittens, and our founder Sheila was well enough to be able to ride around the town centre in the stretch limo decorated
with banners promoting the charity. It was good publicity for the opening of our Charity Shop on Monday 7th September
2009 in Eld Lane, as about 35000 people turned out to watch the procession. We took part in the 2011 procession
on July 16th, with more walkers than before and two vehicles promoting the Charity. All those taking part enjoyed the procession
round the town centre and we were apported by the large crowds.
4) Christmas Raffle - Saturday December 1st
2012. The draw of our annual Grand Christmas Raffle takes place this year at the Sanctuary at 2pm.
Please return all payments and stubs to the Sanctuary address by 24th November.
