In addition to the four main events above, we have other ways of raising funds:-

1) Standing Orders/Donations/Legacies
2) Friends of Colchester Cat Rescue
3) Lottery Club
4) Sponsor A Cat
5) Colchester Cat Rescue Charity Shop

1) Monthly Standing Orders/Donations/Legacies -
If you would like to help with the running of the Sanctuary, please email for our standing order form. Any contributions from £5 per month are welcomed.

Under the Gift Aid scheme we can reclaim 28p in every £1 if you are a taxpayer. So many kind people send us donations, but please let us know if you are a taxpayer so that we can send you one of our Gift Aid forms - we reclaim a substantial amount back from the Inland Revenue each year!

We have been fortunate enough to be remembered by some supporters in their wills, and these legacies have now enabled us to build an isolation unit to help cats that need to be confined to a pen due to injury, or to be kept isolated from our other residents.

2) Friends of Colchester Cat Rescue - if you wish to become a member please write to us at the Sanctuary address in Bromley Rd, or email us. For £12 a year from 1st January we publish a quarterly newsletter informing members on what is happening behind the scenes at the Sanctuary, and updating you on stories about some of the cats. Payment preferred by standing order if possible rather than cheque, please write/email for a standing order form.

3) Lottery ClubFor £12 a year (January - December, but pro rata if you join during the year) members are allocated two numbers and we use the National Lottery Bonus Ball numbers drawn on the first Wednesday and first Saturday of the month. If there is no winner the next Wednesday/Saturday numbers are checked, etc. (Colchester Cat Rescue is registered with Colchester Borough Council under the Lotteries & Amusements Act 1976.) If you wish to join, please write to us at the Sanctuary, or email us. Payment preferred by standing order rather than cheque, please write/email for a standing order form.

4) Sponsor A Cat - we have a large number of resident cats that we have been unable to home, for a variety of reasons. Some have medical conditions or behavioural problems, or are elderly, or are not able to cope with a domestic environment. However, they live out their days in peace and comfort with us, and for a minimum donation of £12 per year contribution (can be paid by standing order) to their upkeep you will receive a birthday card from your chosen cat(s) on your birthday. Pictures of the cats may be viewed at the Charity Shop, and also at the Sanctuary. Please write to the Sanctuary or email us if you wish to contribute.

Our main source of income, the shop just outside Colchester has been in its current site since July 2000. Opened by the Mayor of Wivenhoe, we are well supported by local people who purchase items from the shop.

We stock only donated items, including CDs, videos, records, books, china, jewellery, clothing, household goods, soft furnishings, etc. Please note that we can only accept good quality or nearly new items for sale, thank you.
We cannot accept any electrical items, but understand that St Helena Hospice's charity shops in Colchester have electrically qualified staff so can sell them.
