Cats needing new homes
Home | About Us | Rehoming Procedure and Contacting the Sanctuary | This Year's Events | Volunteers wanted | Our Charity Shop and our Fundraising | Cats needing new homes | Cat related links

As well as about 100 cats that live with us because we have not been able to rehome them, we have up to 50 waiting for rehoming most of the time.

We receive cats each week at the Sanctuary, and their ages can range from 8 weeks to 18 years!
Many of our cats and kittens are lucky and are rehomed very quickly. However, at any one time we have a number of cats that have been with us for a little while, and deserve to have a new home.

Below we list a few of those who need a home. If any of our cats need ongoing medication or prescription cat food, we will pay for these and any vet treatment relating to whatever ongoing condition the cat has.

For colour pictures of some of the cats available for rehoming, that are listed below, please see our entry on the Cat Chat website at http://www.catchat.org/colchester/cgibin/prtoc.cgi

We do not take in any pedigrees except perhaps Persian cats. If you are looking to rescue a pedigree cat (they need rehoming too just like ordinary moggies) please go to our Cat Related Links page and go to the CatChat website at www.catchat.org then Rehoming/Pedigree Rescues  which are shown A - Z by breed.

All cats have been fully vet checked prior to admission to the Sanctuary (flea and worm treated, vaccinated, and neutered if over 4-5 months old, microchipped etc).

Please read the page "Wanting to rehome a cat..." before looking at the cats listed below. You will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire about your circumstances and other suitability checks.

Our welfare officer is in charge of rehoming, and she will then assess whether any of the cats currently at the Sanctuary are suitable to be shown to you.

Please do not be offended if you are refused a particular cat or kitten. We take our rehoming responsibilities seriously and if we think a cat isn’t suitable, we will explain why.

We get to know them very well and we have many years' experience predicting where, and with whom, a cat or kitten will fit in so that they do not have to come back to us, which is very disorientating for them.

All cats are short haired unless otherwise stated.

* We usually have two or three cats that need individual homes (to be an only cat) as each has suffered from bladder stones and needs to be on a special Prescription diet (ie. Walthams Urinary food and Walthams Urinary biscuits only) as the stones may reoccur. We are prepared to supply their special food and cover any veterinary treatment relating to this condition.
These cats are currently Brenda.

Please visit the Sanctuary to see the cats that are currently available to be rehomed. Opening hours 12.00 - 3.00pm every Sat/Sun/Mon/Wed/Thurs (including all Bank Holiday Mondays.)
