Cats needing new homes
Home | About Us | Wanting to rehome a cat or contact us? | This Year's Events | Volunteers wanted | Help us raise funds | Cats needing new homes | Cat related links

As well as about 100 cats that live with us because we have not been able to rehome them, we have 50+ waiting for rehoming most of the time.
We receive cats each week at the Sanctuary, and their ages can range from 8 weeks to 18 years!

Many of our cats and kittens are lucky and are rehomed very quickly. However, at any one time we have a number of cats that have been with us for a little while, and deserve to have a new home.
Below we list a few of those who need a home. If any of our cats need ongoing medication or prescription cat food, we will pay for these and any vet treatment relating to whatever ongoing condition the cat has.

For colour pictures of the cats available for rehoming, that are listed below, please see our entry on the Cat Chat website at http://www.catchat.org/colchester/cgibin/prtoc.cgi

We do not take in any pedigrees except perhaps Persian cats. If you are looking to rescue a pedigree cat (they need rehoming too just like ordinary moggies) please go to our Cat Related Links page and go to the CatChat website/Rescue & Rehoming/Pedigree Rescues A - Z by breed.

All cats have been vet checked prior to admission to the Sanctuary (vaccinated, neutered if over 4-5 months old, microchipped etc).

All cats are short haired unless otherwise stated.

Some current examples of our cats for rehoming are:-

Reggie - a ginger tabby male of 2 years, needing an adult home.

Mr Charlie Cheese - a ginger and white 4 year old male needing an adult home preferably with no other cats.

Ashley - black male of 2 years. Looking for an adult home or with older children, and no other pets.

Max - black and white 2 year old male, may suit an older family.

Brenda - grey and white 3 year old female needing an adult home.

Bella - torti female of 11 years, needing to be an only cat in an adult home.

Neville - black 8 year old male needing an adult home with no other pets.

Harry - black and white 2 year old male looking for a family home.

Diva - black and white female of a year old, would suit a home with older children and no other pets.

Ben - a 2 year old black and white male looking for a family home.

Alfonso - another black/white male of 2 years, a former stray needing to be away from busy roads in an adult home.

Nicky and Spot - aged 10 and 7 years old, to go together, grey female and black/white male respectively.

Niall - a black male of about 10 years who came in to us with a collar injury. He has recovered from this and is looking for an adult home with no other pets. We will provide the food that he eats due to a sensitive stomach.

Lavender - a black female of about 12 years who came to us after her woner died, looking for an adult home.

Frankie - a lively 2 year old ginger male.

Storm - a longhaired black and white female of 2 years.

Ronnie and Mogwai - 2 year old black brothers to be rehomed together. They have had most teeth removed due to dental problems, but eat normal cat food.

Smirnoff - a 3 year old black/white male who has had his tail amputated after a car accident. He lost all his tail so there may be some long term damage.

Delboy - a 10 year old black male looking for an adult home with no other pets. Sadly his owner died.

Roger - a 2 year old black and white male.

Bessie - a 15 year old torti and white female on thyroid medication. She will need an owner experienced in giving tablets to a cat that can be less than willing!

Milly - a torti and white female 8 year old, needing an adult only home with no other cats as she does not like to be fussed too much.

In one chalet we usually have two or three cats that need individual homes (to be an only cat) as each has suffered from bladder stones and needs to be on a special Prescription diet (ie. Walthams Urinary food and Walthams Urinary biscuits only) as the stones may reoccur. We are prepared to supply their special food and cover any veterinary treatment relating to this condition. These cats are currently:-

Snowball - a pure white male of about 7 years. Will need sunblock on his white eartips in sunny weather! (Cats get skin cancer too!)

China - a longhaired black female of about 6 years on the urinary prescription food. Needs an adult only home, with no other pets. China is frustrated at being in her chalet, as she has been with us since July 2006, and needs a proper home so she can settle down.

Please visit the Sanctuary to see the cats that are currently available to be rehomed. Opening hours 12.00 - 3.00pm every Sat/Sun/Mon/Wed/Thurs (including all Bank Holiday Mondays.)
