Coronavirus

The Sanctuary:-
We rehome locally, ie Colchester area and the surroundings villages. We can see visitors by appointment only. We do all necessary pre-rehoming checks before making any appointment, and only ask you to visit if we have a suitable cat.
During the pandemic staff wore masks, social distanced, etc and we also operate mainly in the open air as our cat accommodation is very well ventilated (see photos on The Sanctuary page).
Only people from the same household will be seen. If you have any symptoms please do not enter the Sanctuary. If you are vulnerable or self isolating please do not enter.

If you have any queries or need help, please phone us on 01206 864284 , message us on our Facebook page Colchester Cat Rescue, or email us on mail@colchestercatrescue.org.uk.

If you have a cat that you need to rehome, we would prefer it if you could message us on our Facebook page first (or telephone before midday/send us an email.)
If urgent we will be on site every morning. If you have any cat food, cat litter, cat toys, pet accessories etc to donate to our cats please drop it off while we are there in the mornings.

Charity Shop:-
In April 2021 we moved to our new shop premises at 100 The Commons, Prettygate, Colchester CO3 4NW (01206 576085), which opena Monday to Saturday 9 - 5pm. Please phone the shop if you have items to donate, to confirm that we can accept them.

If you have items to donate to our shop they can also be dropped at the Sanctuary (before midday preferably, but if it is after that time we do have a large garden store in our front car park for you to leave donations). Donations must be clean, complete and in good condition for us to sell them - or we have to spend money disposing of it rather then spending it on the cats. If you wouldn't buy it in a shop, then please don't bring it in.

Most people understand this, but during the last lockdown we were having to fill our wheely bins each week with dirty, broken, unsaleable items. To those of you who give us such lovely donations of clean saleable goods, we are so grateful. The shop is our greatest source of income - we are dependent on your generosity which helps us to neuter, feed and provide veterinary care to cats in need.

We do have a small van and can collect in Colchester, if you don’t have transport and have a large amount of items to donate to the shop. Please message us on Facebook or email if so.

If you are able to help us financially please go to one of the online charity donation pages: we are on Give As You Live. You can make a one off donation or a regular monthly donation. We also have an Amazon wish list too of item that you can buy to help the cats. We can also email or post you a standing order form to do a small monthly donation if you prefer.

Thank you
